Accreditation Update

CONNECT was first accredited by Accreditation Canada in 2012 using the Acquired Brain Injury Standards.

“We are three-and-a-half years into a four-year cycle for Accreditation,” says Karen Tims, Director of Culture, People and Services. “We want everyone at CONNECT to participate in Accreditation and incorporate the improvements we’re working on into their every day. To ensure that, we are really trying to communicate changes as they happen and ask for feedback and participation from staff.”

A mock survey is currently being planned for March, 2016 to make sure CONNECT is on the right track in the Accreditation process.

Four teams have been created and are tasked with involving residents in their process. The teams are ABI (Acquired Brain Injury) Services, Infection Prevention and Control, Medications and Leadership for a Small Community Based Organization.

“Accreditation is incredibly positive for CONNECT,” says Karen. “It makes us strive to be better and teaches us to work as a team. Accreditation sharpens us and encourages a honing of our services and skills.”
