A windy but sunny day added to the energy and excitement of the official groundbreaking and open house of CONNECT Hamilton on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

A crowd of approximately 50 witnessed the groundbreaking and gathered for a short presentation of acknowledgements and reflections by Patti Flaherty, CONNECT President and COO, John Sherwood, CONNECT CEO, and Teresa Smith, VP Adult Regional Care and Executive Site Lead, Hamilton General Hospital.

Teresa told the attendees about a recent trip she and her colleagues took to CONNECT Lake Country and said, “I would describe CONNECT as the ultimate in the resident experience,” said Teresa. “I was also impressed with the coaching model. Not only are they coaching residents, but the staff coaches each other and it creates this great sense of team.”

Representatives from DPAI Architecture Inc. and Ira McDonald Construction Ltd., who are working on the project, joined the other open house attendees from HHS, the Hamilton Niagara Haldibrand Brant LHIN and other health service providers throughout the city.

“We could not be happier with the turnout for the open house and support for this project,” said Patti. “We are honoured to partner with HHS to bring the Life Redesign Model to Hamilton.”

The open house was held in Stoney Creek at the future site of CONNECT Hamilton.
