CONNECT Hamilton has a building (almost), a growing team, and enthusiasm in spades as the finish line for project completion slowly comes into focus.

The project has seen delays for permitting, weather, trades walk-outs, you name it. But the site is certainly coming along. Some of the homes have painted walls, carpet, kitchens being installed and furniture being assembled.

“Landscaping and paving are just waiting for a weather window,” says CONNECT CEO John Sherwood. “We have been assembling furniture for the first floor, which is really starting to come together.”

CONNECT hosted a site tour for some HHS staff in early June, attended by visiting CONNECT Lake Country Leader Mark Fleming and new CONNECT Hamilton Leader Jamie Curran. (Read more about Jamie here: https://connectcommunities.ca/2019/02/introducing-our-hamilton-leader/)

Jamie was busy in May participating in more than 50 interviews for the Professional Coaching Team roles. That team is being assembled this month.

Karen Tims, Director of Culture, People and Services says she is excited about the team coming together in Hamilton, following some inspiring and energized interviews. Offers for all professional coaching roles will be sent out imminently.

Another addition to the team is Adam Van Sickle, who joined CONNECT as Transitions Access and Service Lead. (Read more about Adam here: https://connectcommunities.ca/2019/05/adam-sees-a-lot-of-potential-in-his-new-role-at-connect/)

John visited Hamilton in early June, along with IT Leader Don Buckley, and says despite delays and the usual development headaches, it felt hopeful to see progress on site and the leaders, Jamie and Adam, starting to work together as a team.

John and Don were able to take a break from work to enjoy the Canadian Open – even spotting world champion Brooks Koepke, who they shamelessly snapped mid-swing for this selfie.
