Patti Flaherty, CONNECT President and COO, welcomed guests to CONNECT Lake Country’s 10-year anniversary on Friday, June 21.
CONNECT Lake Country celebrated 10 years of Life Redesign on Friday, recounting some favourite moments and looking forward to a bright future.
“More than 200 people have been supported here at Lake Country,” John Sherwood told the crowd of about 100 residents, staff and invited guests. “At the end of the day, folks get an opportunity they otherwise would not have had to redesign their lives because of CONNECT. I am incredibly proud of that.”
Amongst the guests were Lake Country Mayor James Baker and Interior Health ABI Team Leader Catherine Goodman. CONNECT Hamilton’s Adam Van Sickle, Service Access and Transitions Lead, was also in attendance, enjoying the party at the tail end of his orientation visit to British Columbia.
Recognized for their 10-year work anniversaries were:
Jen Tisado-Dela Cruz
Christy Smith earned her 15-year certificate and Bernadita Pasqua celebrates 20 years!
John shared how humbling it is to see so many talented, caring people who have dedicated a big chunk of their lives to CONNECT and to making a difference in the lives of residents.
“To our residents, you make us proud every day with your strength and resilience. Thank you for sharing your journeys with us.”
The live band providing entertainment throughout the celebration featured CONNECT Life Redesign Coaches TJ Mendoza and Ian Mayuga.
Resident Cory and mother of a resident, Kathy, toasted CONNECT and cut the cake.
“Some people say it takes a village to raise a child, but it is what is in that village that matters the most,” said Kathy. “It’s the people. they care for each other, look out for each other, love each other. That is what makes a village a community.”
