This was a very big week for CONNECT Hamilton, with three successful milestones now under our belt.

The big news is that we were given the green light from today’s Hamilton City Council Meeting on our applications for rezoning and official city plan amendment – an absolute necessity for our project to move forward.

Here is what happened this week:

Tuesday – Hamilton Planning Committee Meeting

On Tuesday, July 11, CONNECT Hamilton was on the docket of the City of Hamilton Planning Committee. Councilor Doug Conly recommended the committee approve CONNECT’s application, stating his support of CONNECT and how positive he thinks it will be for the city. Patti, John, our Hamilton architect, David Premi, our realtor, Larry Szpirglas, and our city planning consultant, Paul Mallard, were all in attendance and the motion was quickly passed with no opposition.

Wednesday – City Permits

On Wednesday, July 12, Patti and John met with individual departments of the City of Hamilton to address specific permits. Those meetings were all successful and indicate relatively smooth sailing going forward.

Today – Hamilton City Council Meeting

Today, the Planning Committee’s recommendation to approve our application went to Hamilton City Council, where our applications for rezoning and official city plan amendment were unanimously approved. A huge milestone in this project.

The City Clerk now makes the decision public and shares the news with neighbourhood residents near CONNECT’s property. The public has an opportunity within these 20 days to oppose the project or bring forward questions and concerns. If there is no opposition, we move ahead with our project.

If all goes well, we will be rolling mid-August with construction and site work with our engineering contractors and subcontractors. CONNECT Hamilton will be officially under construction!
