To combat some of the “Pandemic blues” caused by COVID-19, CONNECT Langley has issued a charity challenge to the houses to help shift the focus to those in the community that may be in need.

South House has risen to the challenge with an initiative to support a woman who is not only caring for her own children, but she is caring for her nieces and nephews following the death of her sister. Five of the six children have tested positive for COVID and, due to the necessity to isolate, she will be unable to work for a few weeks.

“We chose this as our charity initiative because we couldn’t think of anyone more challenged during the COVID-19 pandemic than single mothers,” says Michael, one of the people supported at South House. “Learning of the death of this single mother we wanted to help out her sister, who is taking care of all of the children now.”

South House is for donations via a Go Fund Me page to contribute to groceries for this woman and her children.
